Your cars brakes are probably the most important feature when it comes to safety, both yourself and those around you. This is why brake repair is an absolutely essential component of car servicing.

Each tyre has a brake disk, which has a heat-resistant pad that pushes against the wheel when you want to brake. These pads aren’t designed to last forever and will get worn out from all the friction caused by braking and eventually wear down. As they wear down, the cars braking power will naturally lessen as well, and this is why brake repairs are so important. Any would be DIY mechanics are discouraged to try and make their own brake repairs: the job is far too important to let anyone other than a qualified and experienced mechanic handle it.

If you start hearing strange noises when braking- screaming, clunking, that kind of thing, or yhou notice your brakes are becoming sluggish, then you need to bring your car in as soon as possible. There will be two reasons that’s happening: it’s either your brake pads, or the brakes themselves. Modern brakes usually include a part called a wear indicator. When the pad material wears down to a certain level, then a small piece of metal grinds against the rotor, and that’s where the screaming noise comes from. It’s a warning that it’s time to talk to a mechanic about brake repair.

So if you’ve started hearing that noise, or you’re not sure how long it’s been since your brakes were last seen to, give us a call today. We’ll be more than happy to have a look for you and let you know if it’s time for a brake repair service.
